Scan Fishing
A prototype created to concept a fishing system. As opposed to more common fishing systems, there were several important requirements that made this a more interesting problem.
- Fish should not be harmed
- Has RPG and progression hooks
- Must match the game's science fiction setting
- Minimize the need for art assets
With the requirements in place a previous "rod & reel" approach was abandoned. Instead players would drive a probe that could scan fish. The probe and fish had a wide variety of stats that affect the mini-game, making it possible to customize the probe and enable it to better scan different kinds of fish.
